March Update

Aloha friends and supporters of the Kalaeloa Heritage and Legacy Foundation (KHLF) and the Kalaeloa Heritage Park.

We recently participated in the March Hawai'i Community Development Authority (HCDA) Board Meeting on Wednesday 6 March. At this meeting the Board of Directors of HCDA and the KHLF agreed to move forward with terminating the current lease and entering immediately into a Right-of-Entry that would allow both parties to develop a mutually agreeable Stewardship Agreement.

This arrangement will allow the KHLF to continue to operate the Kalaeloa Heritage Park in a seamless manner while allowing us to be released from the onerous demands of the lease. This "right sizing" approach will allow the KHLF to focus on continuing the important work of preserving and protecting the cultural, historical, and archaeological landscape at the Park.

We appreciate all of your support during this time. Your letters, emails, and personal appearances before the HCDA Board helped make the difference! Mahalo a nui loa!
